Abhyanga Kit

When to use

Start using Mahanarayan tel for abhyanga massage of the mother from the 3rd day of normal delivery and the 8th-12th day of c-section once the dressing of the stitches is removed (some might take more time depending on the external layer healing). Seek the advice of your doctor as it depends on the healing of stitches.

How to use

Mid-morning time is preferred (10 am – 12 pm). Take the required amount of oil in a bowl and warm the oil before use. Massage should be done in ‘anuloma gati’ which means in a downward direction or in the direction of a hair follicle on long bones and in a circular manner on the joints.

Leave the stitches area while massaging (c-section). The massage should be gentle and not vigorous followed by a hot water bath. Use ‘Udvartana churna’- an ayurvedic herb mixture given in the kit instead of soap for more benefits. A 25-30 minutes massage is enough for the relaxation of the muscles and tissues, and nourishment of the skin. We recommend daily massage for the first 6 weeks after delivery and weekly twice for 6 months.
